Vince Gedak

In Memoriam

Vince Gedak

2024

Vince loved life, his family, and friends. He was a passionate sportsman and enjoyed hunting, target shooting, gunsmithing, golfing, curling, fishing, and family travels. He had a sharp mind and could fix almost anything from vehicles to furniture to doorknobs.

Vince was born in Estevan, Saskatchewan, to the son of a blacksmith and the daughter of a dairy farmer -- Maternis and Lillian, respectively. He was the eldest of six sons (Ric, Ken, Dan, Greg, and David).

While working together at the Orpheum Theatre, Vince met the love of his life, Darlene. They married while both were attending university and began their 62-year adventure together. With his project work, the family started off in Winnipeg. This was followed by moves to England, Sarnia, Calgary, and Fort Saskatchewan. Great friends and memories were made with each location.

Many mornings Vince would welcome the day serenading the family singing his version of "I'm Not Lisa", "Purple People Eater", and "Yellow Polka Dot Bikini".

He enjoyed sharing a good story and had a mischievous side. One of his favorite jokes was to point at an unusual bird on a fence and ask, "What kind of bird is that?" If the person didn't know, he would declare with authority that it was a "mugwump" because the bird's mug is on one side and the wump is on the other.

After 81 years in the sun, Vince passed away at home in the company of family. He is survived by his loving wife Darlene, his son Scott, his son Curtis and wife Linda, and his daughter Kelly.
